Anti-inflammatory activity of the Fruits of Blue Honeysuckle

Abstract

|
In this study, we demonstrated the anti-inflammatory activities of two kinds of blue honeysuckle (Lonicera caerulea var. edulis Turcz, Lonicera caerulea var. longibracteata f. ovata Hara) extracts in the LPS-stimulated macrophages. These two extracts showed non-cytotoxic activity, even at the high concentration. These two extracts of honeysuckle reduced the production of nitric oxide, cyclooxigenase-2 and pro-inflammatory cytokines. The inhibitory activities of two extracts of honeysuckle were found to be caused by blockage of NF-¥êB activation.
